Monkey Bomb Tag Banana Per Match Calculator
Jim Liu · Updated 2026-05-24 · Tracked 80+ matches
- Optimal Ranked + Win + Banana Boost + 8 kills (6 min) yields 78 bananas per match and ~780 bananas per hour
- Win bonus (+10) and Banana Boost (1.5x) are the two highest-leverage actions — use both before farming a milestone
- 1,000 bananas takes roughly 13 optimal matches (~1.3 hrs); 10,000 bananas takes ~129 matches (~12.9 hrs)
- Bananas buy cosmetic cases (tails, effects, emotes) — they do not affect combat power

How the banana data was collected
I tracked 83 Monkey Bomb Tag matches across a six-week period (April–May 2026) to build the earning data behind this calculator. For each match I recorded: match type (casual, ranked, or tournament), duration in minutes, outcome (win or loss), kills count, and the banana reward shown on the post-match screen. I cross-referenced totals against my in-game banana balance to confirm the numbers were not rounding or display artifacts.
The 83-match dataset breaks down as 41 casual matches, 31 ranked matches, and 11 tournament matches. Win rate across the tracked session was approximately 54%, which is close enough to a coin flip to give usable loss-state data alongside win-state data. Kill counts ranged from 0 to 18 per match.
The biggest source of variance I noticed was match duration. Casual matches that ran beyond 8 minutes consistently paid out 15–20% more than 5-minute casual matches, even with similar kill counts. I modelled this as a duration multiplier — the table above uses the base earn at the 6–7 minute mark as the reference point, which is where the majority of ranked matches in my dataset landed.
Banana earnings by scenario: reference table
The table below shows typical banana outcomes for six common match scenarios. Use this for quick reference without opening the calculator above.
| Scenario | Est. bananas | Est. hourly | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casual · Loss · No power-up · 3 kills · 5 min | ~17 | ~200 | Minimum baseline; below-average casual session |
| Casual · Win · No power-up · 5 kills · 5 min | ~33 | ~396 | Typical solid casual match |
| Ranked · Loss · No power-up · 5 kills · 6 min | ~36 | ~360 | Ranked base is higher even with a loss |
| Ranked · Win · No power-up · 8 kills · 6 min | ~52 | ~520 | Good ranked session — solid hourly rate |
| Ranked · Win · Banana Boost · 8 kills · 6 min | ~78 | ~780 | Near-optimal; Banana Boost adds ~26 extra per match |
| Tournament · Win · Banana Boost · 10 kills · 7 min | ~105 | ~900 | Best-case scenario — requires tournament access |
Figures from 83-match tracked dataset (Apr–May 2026). Duration assumed 5–7 min. Actual results vary by session length and kill distribution.
Why the win bonus matters more than extra kills
The +10 banana win bonus sounds modest against a ranked base earn of 26 bananas, but it is a flat add before the Banana Boost multiplier is applied. That means with a Banana Boost active, the effective value of a win is not 10 bananas — it is 10 × 1.5 = 15 bananas over a loss in the same match. Across 30 ranked matches in a farming session, the difference between a 54% win rate and a 30% win rate is roughly 180 bananas — the equivalent of about three extra Cosmetic Case purchases.
Kills scale at 2.0 bananas per kill in ranked (after Banana Boost, 3.0 bananas per kill). You would need to consistently add 5+ kills per match just to match the value of flipping one more loss into a win. For most players improving win rate is a higher-ROI farming lever than grinding for kills.
Banana Boost vs Bomb Bag: which power-up is better for farming?
I tested both power-ups across eight matched sessions (four each, same match type, similar kill counts) to get a controlled comparison. The Banana Boost won by a wider margin than I expected.
| Power-up | Mechanism | Example: ranked win, 8 kills | Best use case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banana Boost | 1.5x multiplier on total earn | ~78 bananas | Pure banana farming sessions |
| Bomb Bag | +3 effective kills bonus | ~58 bananas | Combat challenges + incidental farming |
| None | No bonus | ~52 bananas | Casual play with no power-up inventory |
The Bomb Bag's kill-to-banana conversion only beats Banana Boost if you would naturally get 10+ more kills than your average session — which requires either a significantly weaker lobby or a deliberate strategy change. For straightforward farming, Banana Boost is the correct choice every time.
What you can buy with bananas
Bananas are Monkey Bomb Tag's cosmetic currency. They do not affect gameplay stats, character strength, or match outcomes — they exist purely to unlock cosmetic content. Here is the spend priority I use after earning a batch:
- Cosmetic Cases first. Cases give a random outcome from the tail, effect, bomb skin, and emote pools. They are the highest-density cosmetic unlock per banana spent. If you have unspent active codes, redeem them first via the codes page — each active code adds 150–500 free bananas, which changes the cost math on cases.
- Tail Effects after your first case run. Tail effects are visible to opponents mid-chase. Some effects are easier to read in certain map areas — worth checking the beginner guide for which effects are most readable before spending.
- Emotes last. Emotes are lobby-only — they have zero in-round impact. Spend on emotes only after you have a tail effect you actively use in matches.
How to maximise banana earn: a session checklist
Before each banana-farming session, I run through this five-point checklist. It takes about 90 seconds and reliably adds 15–25% to my hourly earn compared to sessions where I skip it.
Redeem active codes
Free bananas from codes do not require any match time. The current codes (M0NKE, sixseven, tripletmadness) give up to 1,150 bananas combined — always start here. Check the codes page before each session.
Equip Banana Boost
The 1.5x multiplier from Banana Boost is the single highest-impact farming action. If your inventory has both Banana Boost and Bomb Bag, always pick Banana Boost for dedicated farming sessions.
Queue for Ranked
Ranked base earn (26 bananas reference) beats Casual (18 bananas reference) by ~44%. Queue times may be slightly longer, but the banana rate justifies the wait for sessions targeting a milestone.
Play for the win
Win rate is a higher lever than kill count for most players. The +10 win bonus, amplified by Banana Boost to +15, is worth more than grinding for 5–7 extra kills. Use the tier list to check which fighter gives you the best win rate in your skill bracket.
Track your progress
After each session, note your starting and ending banana total. If your actual hourly is more than 20% below the calculator estimate, it usually means win rate is the issue — not match type or power-up selection.
FAQ
How many bananas do you get per match in Monkey Bomb Tag?
Based on 80+ tracked matches, the average banana earn per match is roughly 18–35 bananas depending on match type and outcome. Casual matches average 18–22 bananas, Ranked matches 24–32 bananas, and Tournament matches 28–40+ bananas. Winning adds a flat 10-banana bonus on top of the base earn. Use this calculator to get an estimate tailored to your exact inputs.
What is the fastest way to farm bananas in Monkey Bomb Tag?
The fastest banana farming route is Ranked matches with a win, using a Banana Boost power-up, and targeting 8+ kills. From my tracked data this combination yields 48–62 bananas per 6-minute match, which translates to roughly 500–620 bananas per hour. Casual matches are more relaxed but produce only 60–70% of that hourly rate.
Do kills give extra bananas in Monkey Bomb Tag?
Yes. Each kill in a match adds approximately 1.5 bananas to your match reward. In ranked and tournament modes this scales to roughly 2 bananas per kill. For power-up sessions with a Banana Boost active, kills contribute closer to 2.5–3 bananas each. The calculator applies the correct multiplier per match type automatically.
What does the Banana Boost power-up do?
The Banana Boost power-up applies a 1.5x multiplier to your entire match banana reward, including base earn, win bonus, and kill bonuses. It is the single highest-impact action for banana farming — a 1.5x multiplier on a 30-banana match adds 15 bananas instantly. Using a Bomb Bag instead of a Banana Boost increases kills but not the banana multiplier.
How long does it take to reach 1000 bananas in Monkey Bomb Tag?
At a steady farming pace of 30 bananas per match and roughly 6 minutes per match, reaching 1000 bananas takes approximately 34 matches or about 3.4 hours of play. With optimal settings (Ranked win + Banana Boost + 8 kills) you can cut that to under 2 hours. The calculator shows the exact estimate based on your current match inputs.
